She attracted recognition in 2011 as the lead actress in the science-fiction action film Super 8 which earned her a Spotlight Award at the Hollywood festival of thrillers. She was the main character of the comedy We Bought a Zoo (2012) and Ginger & Rosa (2013). And in 2014 and 2019, she portrayed the princess Aurora part in Maleficent.
